PCMD3140EVM-PDK: PPC3, Correct App for PCMD3140 ?

Part Number: PCMD3140EVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCMD3140, PUREPATHCONSOLE

Hello.  I'm in this state: "Your request for access to ADCX120EVM-SW is now pending while it is being reviewed".  I made the request from the PCMD3140EVM request page.

I have a PCMD3140EVM, not an ADC one.  Does the ADC app cover the PCMD parts, or is there an app for just the PCMD?

If the ADC covers PCMD boards, no worries, but I would appreciate any tips on how to carefully satisfy the tons of dropdowns so that MK2 (Mic2) can work right out of the box.

Thank you for the help, Chris

  • Form the users's guide you see the title is : ADCx120EVM-PDK, PCMD3140EVM-PDK Evaluation Module.  The board should be the same and covers both.

  • Thank you for confirming. PPC3 gives this error: "No available EVM apps to install. Contact TI Team for Access to EVM Apps." I sent a request yesterday. Would you be able to authorize so I can install the app required for my EVM?

  • To clarify, I am fine with the board, and it does indeed have a PCMD3140 soldered to it.  My question was if a PPC3 app existed that is dedicated to it (PDM mics only supported in all the PPC3 graphical dropdown selections), as opposed to the much more complicated and delicate PPC3 app for the entire ADC family.

  • Once you have the PPC3 requested and installed, you must  request the dedicated GUI (which runs in PPC3) separately .

I have the following GUIs that run in PPC3 and once I open the PPC3 I can then select which device I want to work with and open the GUI for that.

Usually it takes 24h to 48hrs for the team to review and approve the request. I will ask the team to look into it.

  • Thank you for asking the team to look into it.  I just received an email from TI at my OLD (incorrect email) saying my request is denied.  I suspect it is because (briefly) my email was not my company's.  My email is changed now, and it is my company's.  At this current email, many months ago, I was approved for PPC3 and PCMD3140 access.  I've searched all over ti.com and can't find the request button now.  I did find a request for PurePathConsole, but it only pushes me to a download page, and it appears I have access...but no mention of the PCMD3140 app.  I do have PPC3 installed, and just opened it, logged out, closed, opened, logged in, still no app available.

So 1) Am I fully approved and just need to do a full deinstall/reinstall and all should work?, or 2) do I need approval of some kind?

Would you mind checking with whoever controls this?  I wish I could email them and plead my case, but I can't, so, sorry, I'm asking for your help to get there.

    Thank you, Chris

  • To help the debug, I gambled, and just uninstalled PPC3 and TI USB Audio Driver.  I downloaded and installed ppc3_platform_winInstaller.exe from:

    https://www.ti.com/tool/PUREPATHCONSOLE

Same results, only I2C Master app available, no other apps present.

  • To help improve the documentation, in the EVM User's Guide, I think Figure 2-7 (TLV320ADCx120EVB Input Architecture) has incorrectly labeled jumpers.  Assuming the EVM schematic in that document is correct, I think the Figure 2-7 jumpers should be, left to right: 16, 17, 4, 5, 6, 7, 19, 15.

  • In general you have access to whatever it is approved from the unique email that is tied to your account. So log in to you valid work account and if you don't have that gui in the list of approved devices in your PPC3 ( as shown above) then you need to request that GUI  again. So  once you have PPC3, you have to request the GUI for every device you need separately. It means if you need GUI for xxxx and yyyy , you have to request access to xxxx and yyyy separately from their product page.

If you have the install file for PCMD3140's GUI  already , you might be able to just install it and see it in PPC3 under installed EVM apps or available EVM apps. if not, you have to put a new request for PCMD3140's GUI .

  • The EVM is working great now.  Thank you, Chris
