AIC3254 USB-EVM Driver Issue

Hi,

I am using a TLV320AIC3254EVM-K  for evaluation purposes and have been using it with the usb audio functionality to test various minidsp functions. Today when unplugging to update sampling frequency (unplugged when prompted to do so) it no longer registers when connected...

All appropriate jumpers and switches are in their default settings and D3,4,5,7 LEDs are on but D2 does not light. In looking in Device Manager on Windows 7 the EVM shows up as an unknown device with no driver. Do I need to apply a driver? Is there some step I have overlooked?

Thanks,

-Sean

  • Hi Sean,

you are saying you update smaple frequency, Do you mean you are updating the firmware?

and for the driver did you remove the unkown driver, and re-plug in to see it?

  • Yes, I was updating the firmware utilizing the EEPROM Writer utility in the control software to change sample frequency back to 44.1kHz.

To complete that functionality I have to unplug and replug the EVM board for it to update USB audio sample rate.

The EVM board was not recognized by AIC3254 CS upon re-connecting and says EVM disconnected. LED D2 on the USB EVM does not light.

As for the USB driver, using device manager I am able to see that the device addresses as an unknown device with unknown driver. Deleting the driver and unplugging and replugging the EVM board Windows 7 prompts "Installing device driver software" and then states "Device driver software was not successfully installed"

Is there a driver that I need to add?

    Thanks,

    -Sean

  • Hi Sean,

which version of firmware do you want go update? in your firmware folder, you could find dfu_driver.

  • I would like to get back to the 44.1k firmware to be able to use the device for standard audio.

I have applied the driver found inside the dfu-driver folder that you show above using update driver in Device Manager in Windows (since no driver was currently applied).

After applying the driver, the EVM shows up as DFUUSB in device manager but the D2 USB audio light on the EVM does not enable and AIC3254 CS still maintains that no EVM is connected after reopening the application and unplugging/replugging the EVM board.

Is my USB EVM defective? As it is not allowing me to stream audio or push code to the AIC3254 EVM as it is supposed to do.
