Difference between PCM2xxx and PCM2xxxC, PCM27xx and PCM29xx

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2704, PCM2706, PCM2705

Hi,

Let me ask you basic questions about the difference between PCM2xxx families as below.

Q1) PCM2xxx and PCM2xxxC

I have studied following document about the difference.

http://www.tij.co.jp/jp/lit/an/sbfa019/sbfa019.pdf

The differences are just both "Descriptor Differences" and "Volume control", correct?

Could you tell me any other differences if you know?

Q2) PCM27xx and PCM29xx

The major difference is "ADC" ?  PCM27xx -- No ADC, PCM29xx -- with ADC

Q3) NRND products

About PCM2704/2705, both devices are already difined as "NRND" products.

How about PCM2706/2707?

Can I still propose both devices to my customers?

Thank you for your support.

Best Regards,

  • Hi Takumi-san,

    Q1)
That's correct, PCM2xxxC changes the descriptors and the volume control, in addition PCM2xxxC are certified in Win7. PCM2xxx are able to work on Win7, too, but these are not certified.
    Q2)
PCM270x are DAC while PCM290x are CODEC
    Q3)
PCM2704 and PCM2705 are only available in C revision version.
The recommendation is to use the C revision devices for both DAC and CODEC families, as these are updated versions. (PCM290xC/PCM270xC)
