Program tlv320aic3268 miniDSP via AM3352 processor from PurePath Studio

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3268, AM3352

I am designing an AM3352 based board with tlv320aic3268 codec. The reference designs show a USB streaming controller TAS1020A being used to program the miniDSP and stream the audio data to the codec interface. However this device is not recommended for future designs. So is it possible to program the miniDSP in the codec from the PurePath studio via AM3352, because it has an USB and I2S interface too? Can someone share their ideas.

  • Hi, Girish,

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in our products!

In order to completely use the TLV320AIC3268, you would need a device with I2C/SPI interface and I2S. The TAS1020b is used to convert USB streaming to I2C/SPI and I2S. So, if your device has additional USB inputs, it would be a good complement to be used by the PC.

Regarding your question about PurePath Studio, this software can use the TLV320AIC3268EVM to configure it in real time. If you are interested in configure the codec with an external controller, you would need to generate a .h and .cfg files as described in the following wiki article:
