TAS2559: Inquiries about implementation

Part Number: TAS2559
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2560

Hi team,

I got some inquiries from my customer.

Can we have your expert’s advices/comments on this, please?

Regarding TAS2559/TAS2560 derives,

  1. According to the datasheet, I think that we need to do initialization/configuration(programming to those devices after power-up sequence by external MCU. But, Are those devices supporting External-Flash bootup function (like the function which AM335x processor)? I don’t believe so, but, I’d like to clarify it.

  2. During those devices will not be initialized and any functions are not enabled yet, SPK_P/SPK_M terminals shows Hi-Z?

  3. Customer is considering the attached implementation(TAS2xxx_with_Analog_Switch.pptx). Could you share the analog switch device which TI could recommend, please? I’m not sure if this implementation with TI Smart-amp devices. But, please allow me to ask it. As for this implementation, if there is any issue, could you elaborate it, please?

Thanks and best regards,

Miyazaki

  • Hi Miyazaki-san,

Below are my comments for your questions:
    1. These devices should be initialized through I2C/SPI commands from MCU. So I would also say that External-Flash boot up is not supported.
    2. Yes, when these devices are in shutdown the output terminals are Hi-Z. It is recommended to pull Reset pin to 0V to ensure a known state before the device initialization. (Pulling Reset to 0V will also ensure that outputs are Hi-Z)
    3. I will check about the analog switch implementation, I wonder about the sense pin connections. I'll come back with more detail on this as soon as possible.
