TLV320ADC3101: 4ch-input --- 4ch output application

Part Number: TLV320ADC3101
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3101, PCM5102A, PCM5101A, TS5A2066, TCA9543A

Hello

My customer intend to use 2xADC / 2xDAC or 2 x CODEC for their new  product design FY2018 .

I had recommend customer  TLV320ADC3101,PCM5102A or  TLV320AIC3101  because they had been used them for several model.

Would you please advise following?

(1)

My customer intend to use TLV320ADC3101 for  48KHz and 96KHz for recording.

In order to have same latency ( 17/fs) between 48KHz and 96KHz,

Filter-A should be used,  and AOSR is 128(48kHz), and 64( 96KHz)

Is this usage no problem?

Or, your recommend is to use Filter-B for 96KHz as usually?

I think customer won't use miniDSP.

Please give me your opinion.

(2)

My csutomer's usage is 4ch input and 4ch output.

My customer may use TLV320AIC3101 x2  in place of TLV320ADC3101 x 2 + PCM5101A x 2 ..

Problem is TLV320AIC3101 has only one i2c address, so, any swtich should be

necessary... ( see attached ppt)

Anyway, TS5A2066 data sheet Figure 13. OFF Isolation and Crosstalk (VCC = 5 V) is approx -100dB

for 400Kbps (0.4MHz).

TS5A2066 seems to be okay for this usage, but please give me your opinion.

(3)

In the TLV320ADC3101 data sheet ,( TLVAIC3101 also)

Analog full-scale 0-dB input voltage (AVDD = 3.3 V) is 0.707Vrms(TYP).

Is this vary for up to each device distribution? ( I guess so )

In practically, 0.707Vrms may be changed to ... what value? ( I say it may be approx +/- 3% for internal reference)

I understand this is TYP value, but would you please give me your opinion?

Best Regards

  • Hi, Shibatani-san,

    Please refer to below response.

1- in general, it is recommended to use Filter B when the sampling rate is 96KHz, however, Filter A can be used with a sampling rate of  96KHz without issues as long as AOSR is 64.

2- More than an analog switch, I think an I²C switch could be better option, something like the TCA9543A could work.

3- The full scale input range is .707Vrms. This is not tested it in production so we call it typical. There will be some minor variation but  it will be very close to .707Vrms.
