TPA3131D2: TPA3131 power limit and cap decoupling remove

Part Number: TPA3131D2

Hello,

1. Customer tested the output power of a 16Ohm speaker under 0dBFS, which is 2.8W and 26% THD.  Output power of Table 3 is tested when input level adjusted for 10%, does it have larger output power under 0dBFS input? What is the relationship between power limit and THD?

For PVCC power decouping above, can customer remover one set of cap and only use one set of caps to supply 13,14,27,28 pins?

  • Add table 1 power limit

  • Hi Jeff,
Please read the PLIMIT introduction in the section 7.3.4 in the TPA3131D2 datasheet. This "virtual" rail is approximately 4 times of the voltage at the PLIMIT pin. And the PLIMIT pin voltage can be calculated by the formula in that section.
If the output power is limited by PLIMIT voltage too low, you could try to increase the voltage on this pin.
If you are using stereo mode, please use the decoupling caps for both channels.
    Best regards,
    Shawn Zheng
