TAS5754M: Mute left or right channel dynamically

Hello everyone,

Can the TAS5754M dynamically mute the left or the right channel in a PBTL configuration? I know PurePath can generate filters to play either one or another, but I don't want to generate 3 configurations (left/right/mono) for each filter we'd like to include into our product. I'd like to select the channel through an I2C register.

will you use 2 TAS5754 to drive left/right/mono as 2.1 mode?

We will use 2 separate speakers (so 2 TAS5754).

Hi Xabier,

As you may know, TAS5754M can run a few different HybridFlows. Can you tell me which Hybrid Flow you are using now? I guess probably HybridFlow 4, correct?

Another question, you mentioned you guys use two TAS5754 devices. Do these two both work in PBTL mode?

Hi Andy,

My bad, we have only 1 TAS. I meant that we want to configure two independent speakers (1 TAS on each speaker) as left or right. We use HybridFlow 3.

Hi Xabier,

If my understanding is correct, you were talking about the channel mix settings (see the screenshot below). You want to dynamically choose left/right/mono for the Mid/High Input and Low Input via I2C in your code, correct?

Hi Xabier,

Actually, PPC2 can easily tell you the i2c commands you need. I will show you how to find them in PPC2.

Sorry for the delay Andy. This has partially solved my issue, but it's still not 100% working.

I can select the right channel and mono ( [l+r]/2 ) but if I set the left channel, it plays mono. To rule out a hardware issue I've set the *entire* filters (l/r/mono) and they work fine. Any idea on what I'm doing wrong?

I've attached the registers I'm changing (I'm not using autoincrement):

Hi Xabier,

One thing you can do is to dump two header files in PPC2. In one header file, you select the right channel or mono. In the other file, you select the left channel. Compare these two files and see the differences.
