TPA6211A1-Q1: pop click issue

Part Number: TPA6211A1-Q1

Hello,

My customer use TPA6211A1-Q1 and they meet pop click issue during mode change. If we short IN+/- to ground or short to each other, the pop click will disappear.

Could you give me some suggestions on how to mitigate the pop click?

Thanks.

Dongbao

  • Hi Dongbao,

If possible, using differential inputs would be best.

The pop is most likely caused by a mismatch in input capacitors charge/discharge. There are a couple things that you can try:

    • Increase the bypass capacitor value, this will increase the ramp time during enable and hopefully the "pop" occurs when the bias is still too low for it to amplify the transient.
    • You can use a scope to check the inputs during the mode change, this way you can see the transient that causes the pop. Based on this, the input capacitors can be adjusted to reduce the difference between them.
