TPA3255 should be fully controllable with a 2.1Vrms DAC - but unfortunately it does not do this in BTL/PBTL mode.

Looks like the TPA3255 only have 21.5dB gain. 2Vrms input would be amplified to ~24Vrms, while on 4Ohm loading, 24Vrms can only deliver 24^2/4=144W.

Did I make anything wrong?

Hi Hao,

no but I would except that if the datasheet outlines 2Vrms DAC compatibility that this is valid for all modes not only Single-Ended and that you can reach maximum power output in all modes with a 2Vrms DAC.

Hence I expected that TPS3255 changes it's internal gain depending on the selected mode to maintain compatibility with a 2Vrms DAC.
