TAS5805M: How to update BQ coefficents

Part Number: TAS5805M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5825M, TAS5805

Dear an audio engineer,

I have one problem.

I can't update the some coefficients while TAS5805M is working.

My procedure is that;

1. Command HiZ

2. RESET_CTRL Register(0x00)  because of RAM clear

3. Update Coefficents

However, I couldn't.

If I would update some coefficents while TAS5805M working, how to deal?

Isn't it necessary to reset TAS5805M?

Thanks at advance

Edgard

  • Hi Edgard,

It's quite difficult to understand what's your issue. Could you provide I2C script and test result to prove they are not working?

TAS5825M does support coefficients updating even it's working (no matter playing or Hiz). RESET_CTRL register is only needed during the first time initialization to reset all configurations.

    Regards,

    Matthew

  • Hi Matthew,

    thanks for your replying.

This case is TAS5805M, not TAS5825M you mentioned.

Anyway, TAS5805 doesn't have the feature of updating the coefficients while working.

If I want to change the coefficients, I have to set power off and retry start up secquence which the data sheet recommended.

    Is that right?

    Kindest Regards

    Edgard

  • Hi Edgard,

    Sorry for the 'TAS5825M' typo.

TAS5805M does support coefficients updating while working, not need to power off and retry startup.

The easiest way to do evaluation is using TAS5805M EVM board, then set device into play mode. The DSP coefficients can be modified with PPC3 without power off operation.

    Regards,

    Matthew

  • Dear Matthew,

    thanks for your replying.

But I'm wondering why PPC3 can modify the cofficents in play mode even though TAS5805M doesn't support updating the cofficients while working...

Please tell me the reason, if you could.

Of couse, as you said, I will check the EVM.

    Kindest Regards

     Edgard

  • Hi Edgard,

As mentioned, TAS5805M can support updating coefficients while working, which means TAS5805M has capability to support PPC3 directly change parameters without power off.

    Regards,

    Matthew

  • Hi, Matthew

    thanks a lot.

    Anyway, I'm checking the PPC3.

    Kindest Regards
