Hi
Since customer needs TDM, and two or four simple channels audio ADC, no gain control is needed. Does PCM1862-Q1 work without I2C Configuration? Or say can PCM1862 work in the default status? Or do you have any other recommended automotive audio ADC? Thanks.
Hello,
The PCM1860-Q1 is a HW controlled version of the PCM1862-Q1 and is the better choice for your application.
The PCM1862 will initialize in a default status that will begin transmitting data once clocked out, but it's better to use the HW controlled device for some basic configuration options.
Colin
Thanks
Because 1860 has no TDM, so customer has to use 1862. So you mean 1862 can output the sampled data in the default state, without I2C configuration. Right?
Thanks again.
Hi Wayne,
The PCM1862 defaults to 24-bit I2S mode with data from VINL1 and VINR1 configured as single-ended inputs. If you need TDM formatting then I2C configuration is necessary.
Alternatively they may consider the PCM1840, this is a HW controlled device that can support 4-channel TDM
Best,
Zak
Hi Wayne,
In that case we don't have a solution that supports their required format without some amount of I2C programming. The only other device that can do HW control TDM and is automotive qualified would be the PCM3168A CODEC, but it sounds like this is much more than what is needed.
Best,
Zak
