TAS5805M: Tweeter crossover

Hello

I only see the option for a woofer crossover in the 1.1 flow of TAS5805M.

Is tweeter crossover not possible? If not, why was this type of design chosen?

Otherwise; the 2.0 flow has 15 biquads for left and right individually.

Would it be possible to use 10 biquads as EQ (left+right) and 5 as crossover (left/right seperately)

If no; why not?

Hello Jesse,

While there isn’t a specific crossover functional block for the crossover for the tweeter in the default 1.1 configuration. The DRC block has some crossover configurations that might fit your system needs. see our General tuning guide for the TAS58xx family here:

For a 1.1 speaker setup we do not recommend using the stereo 2.0 configuration, we definitely recommend using the Mono 1.1 PPC3 configuration for 1.1 speaker setups.

Thanks for the response Luis,

The crossover in the DRC only affects the input of the DRC right?

It is not applied to the output of the tweeter channel I think.

If the 2.0 flow would provide the functionallity that is needed, why not use it?

Is there something specific that makes it un-usable for a 1.1 use case?

Hello Jesse,

Here are some slides that should clarify crossover configuration for woofer and tweeter.

This is what we would recommend over the Stereo configuration, even if the the Stereo configuration doesn't technically add additional instability or risk. These are the tweeter crossover configuration that customer's typically use without issue and is what we recommend.
