Our requirements have changed and now we no longer need to meet Automotive temp grades.

We would like an integrated mono CODEC and speaker driver that can output 1 W into 8 Ohms (preferably from 3.3V supply) and also has a headset speaker driver. I see the TLV320AIC3120 but it doesn't have the 1W into 8 OHm capability. We also prefer the most power efficient speaker amplifier for obvious reasons. Do you have any recommendations?

    Hi Bruce,

    The TLV320AIC3111 and TLV320AIC3110 are the stereo 8Ω capable equivalent of the TLV320AIC3120 you referenced.  The TLV320AIC3110 has a fixed-function yet capable digital engine, while the TLV320AIC3120 is a fully configurable mini-DSP that uses PPS to develop desired processing flows.

    The AIC3111 and AIC3110 devices can drive 1.29W into 8Ω loads at 5.5V SPVDD supply voltages.

    Hi Collin,

    Thanks for the reply, but I think you didn't quite understand the question. We don't need stereo, only mono. And what we want is an integrated solution  that will drive an 8 Ohm speaker at 1 W with a 3.3V SPKRVDD. The TLV320AIC3120 can only drive 8 Ohms at <0.7 W for 3.3V SPKRVDD. Any other possibilities?

    Hi Bruce,

    The ones previously mentioned are our best fits.  You may find something with higher efficiency as a discrete ClassD, such as the TPA2010 or TPA2011, or something else in that portfolio.  Then you could use the TLV320AIC3109 (mono-ADC/mono-DAC) as the analog input to the Class-D. 

    I think you know this already which is why you're asking for high efficiency, but for other readers, with a +3.3V supply the maximum full-scale low-distortion output signal you could get with a differential driver is at most 6.6Vpp, or 2.3331Vrms, which into an 8Ω load yields about ~0.7W.

    Understood that the TLV320AIC3111 doesn't meet the +3.3V power output, but note that it is a mono-ADC/Stereo-DAC so there's only an extra DAC, not an extra ADC too if that helps.

    Ok, understood. Thanks for pointing that out. Looks like the TLV320AIC3120 is our best bet, then.
