LM48580: Very small piezo buzzer driver required

Part Number: LM48580
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2700

Hi,

I have a customer asking for a piezo buzzer alarm driver. The specs given were Vin = 3V, Vout > 24Vpp , Size <4mmx4mm, PWM input is ideal.

Initially proposed DRV2700 but the customer said the size was unacceptable. Looking at the LM48580 right now.

  1. Would this be a good fit for buzzer application driven by PWM?
  2. If we consider overall solution size (with passives), is there anything smaller?

Regards,

John

  • Hi, John,

The LM48580 is the smallest of all our piezo drivers solutions (including the passive components). It has three gain levels (18dB, 24dB, 30dB) that can be controlled by the gain pin.

It is normally used with a non-PWM input, but in case the customer requires of a PWM input, an additional 33KHz RC low pass filter can be added at the analog inputs to filter the high frequency / switching content.

Let me know if you have additional questions and comments.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.

  • Hi Luis,

Thank you for your response. This is good to know. I will let you know if there is anything else we need to clarify once the customer gets back to us.

    Best regards and happy holidays,

    John
