PCM1864-Q1: I2C fail and no DOUT data

Part Number: PCM1864-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1864,

Hi team,

customer test PCM1864-Q1, sometime can't read/write PCM1864 via I2C and sometims, MCU can r/w but foun no DOUT data. attached are their reg settings and schematic.

in order to sync with BCK and SCKI, they use the same one 4096kHz as clock on the BCK and SCKI. use a level shift between BCK and SCKI to meet 1.8V voltage and 3.3V voltage.

problem is :

1. read  reg0x71 to reg0x78, find their have error, but measure the pin voltage is normal.

2. when can't read PCM1864-Q1, will have NACK ,see the below:

Can you help give suggestions about this issue? if the design have problem? thank you

  • Hey Betty,

First I would say that it is not necessary to apply an SCKI that is the same as BCK. The device can generate its internal clocks from BCK. Given the other issues you have reported, I strongly suspect there is a layout issue regarding the ground connections around PCM186x and the DVDD rail.

    Best,
