TLV320DAC3101: TLV320DAC3101 Power Requirements

Part Number: TLV320DAC3101

Hi there, I had some questions regrading powering the TLV320DAC3101

Per the datasheet, these are the following rails:
AVDD: 2.7-3.6V DVDD: 1.65-1.95V HPVDD: 2.7-3.6V SPLVDD: 2.7-5.5V SPRVDD: 2.7-5.5V IOVDD: 1.1-3.6V

Do all rails need to be powered if we are not using one of the speakers and no headphones?
Do we have peak power consumption for each rail? Datasheet only mentions typical power consumption for system
Any sequencing requirements? Datasheet is not too specific besides what is in 6.3.1
At what voltage are the rails most efficient/effective. For example,  SPRVDD.

Thanks
  • Hi Daniel,

If you power down some of the supplies there is a chance of reverse biasing internal circuitry, causing some leakage current to flow from the powered supplies to the not powered ones.

If you need to power down some of the supplies, you must disable all internal settings of the device, ideally RESET pin should be pulled-down.

Current consumption depends more on the internal configuration, not as much on the supply voltages. Some reference is available in this document: TLV320AIC31xx and TLV320DAC31xx Power Consumption Characterization (Rev. B )
