Installing the driver for the CDCE62005 EVM

Hello,

There have been a lot of posts on this issue, but they haven't helped me. They are all several years older and point to updated versions of the installer for windows 7 issues. I have the latest version of the installer (1.4.8) and I have the same problem.

I have tried to use the 1.4.8 version and the older one that ships with the EVM (on a CD) on multiple win7 machines, both 64 and 32 bit. With no luck. The driver installation says it succeeds, and then asks you to plug in the em so windows can detect it. Windows then searches for the driver to no avail.

If you go to Device Manager, the EVM shows up as an unknown device. When you try to manually update the driver for the unknown device by browsing to each and every level/subfolder of the ..\CDCE62005\Driver dir, windows says it can't find any driver.

So what is the answer here? What is the name of the driver for x64 and x32 win7? How can it be this hard?

Hello Jim,

can you please let me know which USB VID/PID is shown for the "unknown device"? Please go to the Hardware Manager and to the detailed properties "Hardware IDs".

It should show VID,PID: 0x0451, 0x1E01.

I guess your EVM shows a different PID. Do you have any SDK for a TUSB3xxx installed on these machines?

Can you please send me a screenshot of the board or even better the label of the shipped box? There should be a label with an identifier code as well as a QR code.

Hello Patrick,

I have the same problem: my CDCE62005 EVM has Hardware ID VID,PID: 0x0451, 0x2136

Here a picture of the lable on the shipped box:

Hello Andrea,
did the board show up like this at first time connection to your PC?

If the answer is no:
Do you have any dev kits for the TUSB devices installed?
Which OS do you have on that PC? (Win7? x32/x64?)

Hello Patrick,
yes it did. I never menaged to make the board work. I have tried also on different PCs and it results always as PID 0x2136.

Anyway, I don't have dev kits for TUSB devices installed and I would like to use it on a Win7 x64 machine.

Hello Andrea,
thanks for confirming that!
Please try the following:
1) Install the EVM GUI on the PC of question and start it.
2) Please go to this thread and download the firmware file from this thread: e2e.ti.com/.../412765
3) Connect the EVM.
4) Go to the main menu at the top of the GUI, select Tools->Download Firmware to EVM. Please provide the path to the file you downloaded in 2). Follow the dialogs.
5) You may want to power-cycle the EVM by disconnecting the USB and re-connecting.
6) Then the EVM should show up in the hardware manager as shown in above post.

Please let me know when there is unexpected behaviour or you have an issue!

Hello Patrick,

thanks for the detailed instructions.

However after doing 4) nothing happens... no further windows open and even no error messages. I believe the firmware didn't loaded because even powercycling the board I get always the same PID 2136.

I am using the CDCE62005 EVM software 1.4.8

Hello Andrea,

that is unfortunate. That means our software cannot detect the blank microcontroller to re-flash the EEPROM. I will have to ask you to download the official tool to burn the MCU EEPROM. Please download this tool for the MCU. http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sllc443

Then use it with the firmware binary which you already downloaded.

Please write it using "full binary image" option, 512kB and "TUSB3210" device. I made some screenshots.

Please let me know how this works out!

could you please do me one favor and send me the label information of the PCB and the EVM box? You will find some QR codes and some numbers next to them. These will help me to track back how this happened.
