LMK00301: Inquiry

Part Number: LMK00301

Hi,

Good Day. Customer is using the LMK00301 with an LVDS output. The frequency range is mentioned for the HCSL output but not for the LVDS. He want to use the buffer for data and was wondering if the LVDS output could also reach DC levels? Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray,

Electrical characteristic table shows the LVDS typical clock frequency output for full output swing and which is around 1.6GHz, whereas you can get the full scale range from below plots.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Ajeet,

Good Day. Please see below the response of our expert to your query. Thank you very much.

The plots only present frequencies down to 100MHz. I would therefore prefer to reject the answer.
I also have a follow up question. The datasheet mentions that a slew rate of 3V/ns must be present. What would be the effect on performance if a slew rate of 1V/ns is used? How about 0.1V/ns?

    Best Regards,

    Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray,

Datasheet plots show the full scale range from 100MHz and it should be valid for lower frequencies also with similar full scale range value. Customer can try the ibis model and simulate at lower frequencies too.

Also regarding the slew rate, please see figure 9 to 14 in datasheet, where lower slew rate will affect the noise floor and jitter performance of the output signal.

    Thanks!
