CDCDB800: CLKIN input AC termination(translation from LVDS to LP-HCSL)

Part Number: CDCDB800

Hi E2E expert,

we have an application scenario that LVDS to LP-HCSL, for CLKIN of CDCDB800,  plz help to check on the questions below:

1. as LVDS input to CDCDB800, does the input need extra 100Ohm termination?

2. for AC termination, what is the recommended ac couple capacitor?

3. do we need DC bias for CDCDB800  input?

4. can we connect directly from LVDS to CDCDB800 input with DC coupling?

thanks in advance.

  • Hi Zack,

    See my responses below:

    1. It depends on your LVDS driver, but if it it does not have an internal termination then you will need a 100 Ohm termination externally

    2. 0.1 uF capacitors are a common choice for AC coupling

    3. No DC bias is required at the input of the CDCDB800

    4. Yes, AC or DC coupling would both work as long as you are within the input voltage swing requirements as shown below

One other note is that you may want an option to add series resistors (10-30 ohms) on the output of the LVDS driver to help reduce overshoot and ringing. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Thanks a lot, Connor. very appreciate your quick response.
