LMK5C33216EVM: Use LMK5C33216 EVM with GPS PPS as the reference clock

With 38.4 MHz we can source the 1-PPS and 38.4 MHz outputs from APLL3 (BAW VCO). With 38.88 MHz, we will have to source from APLL2.

Thank you very much for your help.

 I have tested the LMK5C33216 configuration file with the EVM.

1) Because the EVM had and XO = 38.88 MHz, I have modified the XO parameter.

2) We should have a PPS CMOS 1V8 to have the REF0_VALID_STATUS active. 

=> The LOPL PLL3 is well cleared after several minutes.

3) To have a square signal, I bypassed C97. The OUT0 1Hz is 0 /640mV with 50 % duty cycle.

Questions about the PPS  OUT0 1Hz : 

- Can we increase the level, for exemple 1V8?

- Can we change the duty cycle? 

 4)  For OUT1,  38.4 MHz outputs, can I have a sinusoïdal wave instead of CMOS? 

The capture bellow corresponds to the  38.4 MHz outputs with HSDS ouput driver 

5) I tried to configured in ZERO delay mode with PPS connected to IN0 without success.

Question :

Have you .tcs file with ZERO delay mode for testing with LMK5C33216 EVM ?

I just need

- OUT0 : PPS CMOS,

- OUT1 38,4MHz sinuswave.

- Zero delay mode

1. We have released LMK5C33216A, are you able to order to continue testing with this part? This will help us work with only one configuration and TICSPRO profile.
2. Sorry, I forgot you needed a 1PPS + ZDM config with 38.88 MHz XO input. The new boards have a 48 MHz TCXO instead of 38.88 MHz. For now, here are configurations with XO input = 48 MHz.
   1. Please note that I was able to test the LMK5C33216A configuration but could not test the LMK5C33216 configuration due to a limited setup.
   2. I will work on getting the configs for 38.88 MHz XO input. In the meantime, are you able to route a signal generator to the XO input SMA port? Make sure to power down the TCXO by floating the jumper.

4. You can change the CMOS output level here:

5. The duty cycle cannot be changed.
6. Sinewave outputs are not supported on our network synchronizer devices as of December 2023.
7. The HSDS output requires termination which is why the waveform does not look square. Please terminate with a 50-ohm SMA on the OUT1_N and set OUT1_P on the scope to 50-ohms.

Sorry for the late reply, I was on holyday. 

I have not the possibility to order the LMK5C33216A. I should continu with the LMK5C33216 (time for evaluation) because I have to finish the evaluation soon.

For our project, we will need a volume of 20 Synchronizers / month from July.

1) I have tried, the Zero delay mode, without success (file lmk5c33216_IN0=1PPS_OUT=ZDM+1PPS, 38.4 MHz, 38.88 MHz config.tcs).

The ref0_Valid_Status is not selected with the attached "Zero delay mode". I had configured the file OCXO part at 38.8 MHz. The LOPL_DPLL3, LOFL_DPLL3, HLDOVR3 is always selected.

The non zero mode version with OCXO part at 38.8 MHz was OK:lmk5c33216_IN0=1PPS_OUT=1PPS, 38.4 MHz, 38.88 MHz config_OK

Have you tested with LMK5C33216 with non zero mode, OCXO, 38.8 MHz?
