NE555: Min Pulse Width Needed to Initialize Timer

Part Number: NE555

Hey Clock and Timing team,

I have a customer evaluating the NE555 timer in monostable operation for a new project and we would like to know what the minimum pulse width for TRIG (Pin 2) is needed to initialize the timer. Is this something that is characterized or specified in the datasheet?

In their application the pulse width can be as short as 5us so we are trying to determine if that would work. If not, do you have any other circuit recommendations?

Let me know if you have any questions!

Best regards,

Matt Calvo
