BQ32000: why do we have two paths from VCC to VBACK

Part Number: BQ32000

Hello expert,

customer has one question as below. They are afraid of leakage current from VBACK to VCC and BU has already confirmed there should not have leakage current. But they would like to know why we have two paths(with diode and without diode) from VBACK to VCC? Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

Ann Lien

  • Hi Ann,

All switches will be open when using the backup supply and the diode will prevent current flowing back from the backup supply to Vcc, there is no leakage current from Vback to Vcc.

TCFE is used to boost the voltage of Vback as the diode has certain voltage drop.
