LP-MSPM0G3507: ADC sampling time calculation

Part Number: LP-MSPM0G3507

Tool/software:

Hello!

I would like to have a calculation example with numbers for the formulas  available in the data sheet

I would like to know why is the sampling time 10 us for the temperature sensor what is the Rpar and Cpar in this case.

Best Regards

Ali

  • Hi Ali,

From the datasheet, CS/H and Rin are 3.3pF and 500Ω respectively. Ci is typically 5pF. (see digital IO section of datasheet), Settling error is 1 LSB.

Cpar and Rpar is dependent on your traces, I recommend using a low-pass filter for an ADC input. This would make the Cpar and Rpar values the same as your low-pass filter (there is a slight increase with trace parasitic but it is typically dominated by the filter. In high-speed applications these factors would be more important.)

The temperature sensor sampling time isn't 10us because of the parasitics or the adc characteristics, but is because of the temperature sensor itself. It takes 10us for the Temperature sensor to settle so it is recommended to sample at that speed or slower.

    Regards,
    Luke
