LMX2595: LMX2595 Phase Adjust and SYNC

Part Number: LMX2595
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2594PSEVM,

Tool/software:

hello

Recently, I have been testing the phase synchronization and adjustment functions of LMX2595 and have some questions that I hope can be answered: When I only select MASH_SEED_EN in TICSpro, the phase adjustment is in line with the description in datasheet 7.3.12. However, when I select both MASE_SEED_EN and VCO_PHASE_SYNC at the same time, the phase change does not correspond to 7.3.12. Could you please help me analyze where the problem lies? The hardware we are using is LMX2594PSEVM and we have replaced 2594 with 2595.

  • Hi There,

Phase adjustment has restriction when sync mode is enabled.

I don't have a robust configuration for 8GHz application, you may need to do some trial-and-error exercise.

  • HI

Does SYNC bit need to be set at the same time when controlling synchronization? My actual application now uses two independent SPI to control two 2595 channels. When synchronizing, I first set the SYNC of CH1 to 1 and then set the SYNC of the other way to 1. There will be a small delay in the SYNC setting of the two channels, will this affect my synchronization?

  • Hi There,

You need to determine the category of sync first, not every sync category needs sync mode (VCO_PHASE_SYNC = 1).

Check the flow chart in the datasheet to determine the category of sync.

If it is a cat.3 sync, you need a time critical SYNC pulse to synchronize all synthesizer.
