TICSPRO-SW: Register R159 not found when programming LMK05318BEVM (TICS Pro v1.7.8.0)

Part Number: TICSPRO-SW
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK05318B, LMK05318BEVM, USB2ANY

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am encountering the following error when clicking "Program EEPROM" in the latest TICS Pro version 1.7.8.0. Config was created in this version. Brand new install of TICs. Windows 10, fully updated.

Same workflow has worked in previous versions, so I'll rolllback to v1.7.7.10 but wanted to report the issue.

  • Hi Quint,

    Thank you for reporting it.

Can you please share the .tcs file that you used to get the error? I do not see that message when I click on "Program EEPROM".

Also, please provide the .tcb file which is located in this directory:

    • C:\ProgramData\Texas Instruments\TICS Pro\Configurations\Devices\Network Synchronizer Clock (Digital PLLs)\LMK05318B\LMK05318B.tcb
    • Make sure to enable "Show Hidden Items" in Windows to view the the ProgramData directory.

    Regards,

    Jennifer

  • Certainly--here are a few more observations:

    - Also see some similar errors for R43

    - Sometimes clicking "Soft Reset" doesn't do anything (no output in window bottom left side)

    7752.test.tcs

  • Hi Quint,

I'm still unable to reproduce the issue. I was able to program the EEPROM with the 7752.test.tcs files using a Window 11 PC without any errors to show up.

    • Can you please confirm if there is an LMK05318B connected to the PC? (Note that I don't see the error with or without an LMK05318B connected,)
      • If so, is this through the LMK05318BEVM or a custom board?
      • Are you using the on-board USB2ANY (from the EVM) or an external USB2ANY dongle?
      • If you click on "Scan I2C Bus" from the upper toolbar, do you get the expected I2C address ? What value do you get readback? 0x64 is the default EVM setting.
    • Can you also provide a detailed step-by-step procedure of how you get to the issue starting from powering up the LMK05318B?

    Regards,

    Jennifer

  • Hi Jennifer,

Apologies for not uploading the .tcb file yesterday; unfortunately I was getting blocked from e2e.ti.com for too many posts with a given time period..

However I repeated the steps and realized what's happening: I skipped the "calculate frequency plan" and "restore calculated DPLL settings" steps when testing the default eval 1PPS config, which caused the error. I tested again with those two steps and no issues.

Thank you for looking into this, I'll go ahead and close.
