Hi All,

We have a customer who is considering CDCE813.

(1) There is no EVM for CDCE813.
We are thinking of using CDCE913 EVM instead for evaluation.
Is it possible to use CDCE913 EVM instead of CDCE813 for evaluation?

(2) Regarding the contents of the control terminals below,

can I understand that they are the same as the contents described here?

(3) I have a question about 7.3.2 Default Device Configuration.
I understand that by rewriting the contents of the EEPROM from the factory default to the desired state, it becomes unnecessary to start I2C every time and it will operate with user settings. Is this understanding correct?

(4) I have a question about 8.2.2.2 PLL Frequency Planning.
It says that various parameters can be calculated automatically with "TI Pro-Clock software."
I installed TI Pro-Clock but could not find the CDCE813 device information.
Could you tell me how to set it up?
Or can CDCER913 be used instead?

Ishiwata,

1. Yes I recommend using the CDCE913 instead as it has an EVM and programming software.

2. Yes that is correct for both the CDCE813 and CDCE913. If the device's EEPROM is programmed to disable the I2C communication, then forcing VDDOUT to GND can temporarily re-enable I2C communication.

3. Yes that is correct for both the CDCE813 and CDCE913

4. I recommend using the CDCE913 instead as it is compatible with Pro-Clock while the CDCE813 is not

This is correct.
Yes - after you program the configuration desired into EEPROM, on the next power cycle the new configuration is loaded. No need for I2C access for configuration changes afterwards.
You may be able to use the TI Clock Pro software: https://www.ti.com/tool/CLOCKPRO
The register maps between the two devices are identical, the only difference is the default values.
