LMX2594EVM: Configuration to synch output to system clock

Hi Experts,

We'd like to ask assistance on this query:

Problem:
I’m working to synchronize the output of the LMX2594EVM board with the rest of my system, which uses a shared 10 MHz reference clock for all instruments. The goal is to ensure the LMX2594 output is phase-aligned with this common system clock.

What I’ve tried:
Following your suggestion, I used a signal generator to feed a 100 MHz signal into the OSCin input of the LMX2594EVM. The signal generator is locked to the system's 10 MHz reference clock, so the 100 MHz signal should be synchronous with the rest of the setup.

I also tried configuring the signal generator to output 10 MHz directly into OSCin, allowing the LMX2594 to use that as the reference input and upconvert it internally via the PLL.

Since the EVM is configured by default to use an external reference clock, could you please confirm if there are any jumper settings or configuration options, I should double-check to ensure proper operation with either 100 MHz or 10 MHz input?

Thank you.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Additional:

Please note that I am trying to synch the board with rest of the hardware which uses 10 Mhz reference signal from one source and distributed to all of them.
As for the board I am taking 100Mhz signal from a signal generator to OSCin and feeding the 10Mhz reference signal to that signal generator for synch with rest of the system.
Please see the following screenshot attached of both setup and GUI,
    Thank you.

  • Hi Team,

    Looking forward hearing n update.

    Thank you.

  • Hi There,

100MHz input, 12GHz output, this is a Cat.1 sync configuration, no need to enable sync mode and the input/output phase is deterministic.

Did you not get deterministic between input and output?
