CDCLVC1104: CDCLVC1104PW Recommended Operating Junction Temperature

Part Number: CDCLVC1104

Tool/software:

What is the recommended operating junction temperature for CDCLVC1104?

Datasheet lists an absolute maximum junction temperature and I would like to inquire if the recommended operating junction temperature is different.

Thanks

  • Hi Sadab,
There is no recommended operating junction temperature.
If you're operating at the max ambient temp (85degC) the junction temperature should still be well below the maximum allowable value.

    Best regards,

    Vicente

  • Vincent,

Are you stating that so long as the junction temperature is below the 125C the part will not fail?
If so then that would be an acceptable rating to reference to assess the thermal performance of the device?

    Thanks

    Sadab Bahar

  • The part is rated up to 85degC, as long as you don't surpass this when operating the part this is fine.
But correct, even when operating at max ambient temp *(85degC) you will not be operating near the maximum junction temperature.
    Thermal metrics also found here.

We also have newer and better (lowest noise floor -171dBc/Hz, 1.8V/2.5V/3.3V supply) which is LMK1C family.

    Best regards,

    Vicente

  • Vincent,
Are you assuming maximum power dissipation when operating at 85C when you state that the device operating at 85C will not reach its Junction temperature? Does and 85C ambient temperature at max power dissipation result in a 125 junction?

The relationship between junction and ambient is Tj=Ta+Pd*ThetaJA
Assuming Tj max is 125, Pd=(125-85)/149.4=.267W

    Thanks,

    Sadab Bahar

  • That is correct, even assuming the device is at maximum output power at 85degC ambient the junction temperature will still not me at max rating (125degC)

    Best regards,

    Vicente

  • Vincent,

Can you tell me what the maximum power dissipation is or clarify what the junction temperature is at 85C at a maximum power dissipation?

And if I understand this, so long as the device's junction is below 125C then it is okay?

    Thanks,

    Sadab Bahar
