LMK04906: LMK04906: Multiple Synchronous Clock Generation

Part Number: LMK04906
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04832

I was told that the LMK04832 is recommended over the LMK04906.

I understand that LMK04832 has better synchronization performance for multiple devices.

When I compared the supply current on the datasheets, the LMK04906 requires 410mA (typ), while the LMK04832 requires 675-930mA.

Does this mean that the LMK04832 requires a larger current?, or are the current measurement conditions different?

  • Kiyoshi-san,

The current consumption in either case will depend on the configuration and use case, but it is important to note that the LMK04832 offers considerably greater functionality, as well as 7 more outputs than the LMK04906. The LMK04832 is recommended as it was designed more recently than the LMK04906, and it offers greater flexibility in certain modes of operation (particularly when doing multi-board SYNC). Your use case will be the determining factor in which device is better suited for you.

    Thanks,

    Michael
