Synchronizing CDCUN1208

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCLVD1216, CDCLVD1212, CDCUN1208LP

We have a design that is using a CDCUN1208 as a divide by 2, LVDS clock driver using all 8 outputs.  The new revision of this design will require the addition of a number of parts that need copies of this clock.  Our CDCUN1208 is using pin configuration.  We would like to add a second CDCUN1208 to the design to drive the additional loads however the data sheet does not indicate that there is any way of synchronizing the phases of the output clocks.

I'm not worried about the 100's of picoseconds of skew between the drivers, just the 8 nS of skew if the divide-by-two is out of phase between the two parts.  Is there any way to guarantee the parts start in phase?

  • There is no way to synchronize the phase between two CDCUN1208LP devices.  You might consider using CDCUN1208LP as a div-by-2 stage and follow it with a larger LVDS fanout device like CDCLVD1212 or CDCLVD1216 (12 and 16 output LVDS fanout).  This way, you will have low skew between all 12 or 16 outputs from the fanout device.
