CDCLVD21xx, CDCLVD12xx - Can it be used as a LVDS data buffer.

Guru 19775 points

Hello Team,

Please allow me to confirm if CDCLVD21xx or CDCLVD12xx clock buffer family devices could be used as a typical LVDS data buffer.

Could these devices support consecutive 0 or 1 data pattern ?

Best Regards,

Kawai

  • What is the customer’s max data rate? What is the system application use case (standard/protocol)? Note there is NO signal conditioning like input EQ, output pre emphasis, etc. for these buffers.

  • Hi Alan,

I'm Kawai's coworker. Thank you for your note.
    Answers are the following:
    - Input signal,  LVDS
    - Data rate,  600MHz (max)
    - Data width,  10bits (Not all High /Low)
    - Application,  Camera

  • Nagai-san,

Do you mean data rate of 600 Mb/s?  For a repeating 1010 data pattern @ 600 Mb/s, this data rate would be equivalent to 300 MHz clock, which is within the 800 MHz max input frequency using the differential input configuration.  I think it could work, but suggest to order the EVM so the customer can evaluate and confirm it works for them.

    Regards,
    Alan

  • Alan,

Yes, our customer use 300MHz clock.
I will suggest to use an EVM to our customer.

    Thanks,
    Nagai

  • Hello Alan-san,

Thank you for your advice. I am understanding that as long as device input is DC coupled, any data lower than 800MHz could be buffered using this device. Please let me know if my recognition is incorrect.

    Kawai
  • Yes, it should support 800 Mbps data rate, which is equivalent to 400 MHz clock. I suggest to order the EVM so the customer can evaluate and confirm it works for them.
