CDC3RL02: Min spec of CLDO in datasheet

Part Number: CDC3RL02

Dear BU experts,

Would you confirm below question ?

In datasheet, The min spec of CLDO is 1uF. Does this include the tolerance of cap(1uF) ? So, customer must use higher value than 1uF considering the cap's tolerance itself.. Right ?

Thanks,

JH.

  • Hi JH,
This capacitor must stay within the specified range over the entire operating temperature range. An input bypass
capacitor of 1 μF or larger is recommended.

    Shawn
  • Hi Han,
My question is the tolerance of Cap(1uF).. As you know, real cap 1uF has 20% tolerance (X5R MLCC) or 10% or 5% or 1% per parts. For example, 1uF with 20% tolerance could be down to 0.8uF in edge samples. so, I think customer must not use 1uF.. My question is that Min 1uF condition in datasheet means including tolerance or not. Would you feedback to me after checking with design team ?
    Thanks,
    JH.
  • Hi JH,
    Request (cap typical value - tolerance ) > 1uF.
See details in datasheet P11 9.1.3
"The LDO requires an output decoupling capacitor in the range of 1 μF to 10 μF for compensation and high frequency PSR. This
capacitor must stay within the specified range over the entire operating temperature range. An input bypass
capacitor of 1 μF or larger is recommended."

  • Hi Han,

    Thanks for the answer.
