CDCP1803-EP: Bypass cap recommendations

Part Number: CDCP1803-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCLVP111-SP

Team,

I’m connecting this device (CDCP1803-EP) in a design and the engineer is looking for bypass recommendations for VDD.

Do we have any?

  • Hi Michael,

Bypass caps should be placed as close to the device power pins as possible. Typically, several capacitors are placed in parallel each with unique self-resonance frequency (SFR). What range of frequencies to cover with bypass caps depends on what frequencies potential aggressors will radiate energy in a given system.

In addition to bypass caps, ensure that both VDD and GND paths to the device are low impedance, typically achieved with power planes and not narrow traces.

On our CDCLVP111-SP EVM, another clock buffer, the power pins are bypassed with 22uF, 10uF, 0.1uF, 0.033uF, and 0.01uF in parallel.

    Thanks
    Christian
