TSW14J56EVM: TSW14J56EVM

Part Number: TSW14J56EVM

Hi,

I am currently trying to test the DAC38RF82EVM with the TSW14J56EVM board. I am currently getting this error when I try to load firmware to the device: Set Auto Re-arm Trigger Params in DLL WRITE_REGESTER_FAILED Write register operation failed. I do not know how to solve this error so any guidance on how I would go about fixing this would be extremely helpful.

Thank you.

  • Jacob,

Make sure the 5V supply connected to the TSW14J56EVM can source at least 4A. Make sure the current limit is not set to low if the supply is already rated for this.

If this does not solve the issue, please let me know the status of the LED's D1-D8.

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Jim,

Sorry for the late reply. The power supply I am currently using is a 0-30V power supply rated for 5 A. I sent my current limit to 2 A. It seems to boot up fine and all the voltage rail LEDs are powered on correctly. As for the status of LED's D1-D8 they are all off when I try to upload the firmware I want to the board.

    Thanks for the response,

    Jacob

  • Jacob,

Please set the current limit to 4A and give this a try.

    Regards,

    Jim

  • It is still giving me the same error as before. I even swapped out for other power supplies of the same model and still nothing seems to be programmed.

  • Jacob,

It appears this is a failing unit. If you bought this from a distributor, you will have to work with them to get a replacement. If you bought it from the TI Store, the following link has the details and a link to the form to start the return process.  Once you are on the returns and refunds page of the TI Store look for the hyperlink which says: TI store customer support form.

  • Jim,

I have 3 of these units and I swapped out all of them. Is it possible for all 3 to be failing units?

    Thank You,

    Jacob

  • Jacob,

    Please verify jumper JP11 has a shunt between pins 1-2, JP12 has no shunt, and JP4-JP7, JP10, JP13, JP16 and JP17 have a shunt between pins 2-3.

Please send screen shots of the GUI after the GUI first opens, then after selecting the ADC ini file, then after pressing capture. Can you also monitor the current and let me know the consumption is after each of the steps?

Are all three boards doing the same thing? When did you get these boards?

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Jim,

All shunts are in there proper locations as specified above. The current draw remained constant throughout all steps you asked me to preform at 0.540 A. I attached the screenshots below and it is still giving me the same error. I checked with other engineers and they told me we received these boards around mid-May. All three boards are giving me the same error.

  • Jacob,

Do you select a ini file after clicking on "OK" in the screen shot you sent? This is required to download the firmware. Do you see the following ini files after clicking on the Select DAC green drop down arrow?

If so, what happens after you select the ini file? Please send a screen shot of that.

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Jim,

I do and after I select any of the .ini files I get that Auto Re-arm Trigger Params in DLL WRITE_REGESTER_FAILED error again. Then when I try to click the file again all it says is download firmware.

    Thanks,

    Jacob

  • Jacob,

Please send these back for a replacement per the post I sent a few days ago.

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Jacob,

Can you please send the serial numbers on the three TSW14J56EVM boards you have?

    Thanks,

    Jim

  • Jim,

The serial numbers are as follows:

    T842EG3U

    T843N8di

    T843NDo2

Let me know if you need anything else and I will look sending these back in for replacement,

    Thanks,

    Jacob

  • Jacob,

Thanks for the info. I would suggest sending these back for replacement now.

    Regards,

    Jim
