ADS1278EVM-PDK: Power down Error

I have an ADS1278EVM-PDK Rev G and have been using it with ADCPro and the ADS1278EVM-PDK-SW software.

It has been working flawlessly up until now. I am able to establish a connection to the board and all channels switch on as they have done previously.

However, when I try to do anything after establishing the connection the following error message pops up:

An error occured with error code 6004

All jumpers are set to their default positions as per the User's guide. However, I have been using an external 5V reference voltage, hence switch S3 is set to Ext.

Hi Rasmus,

I think for some reason the software is having a problem reading the EEPROM on the board. Here is a thread with some more information: https://e2e.ti.com/support/data-converters-group/data-converters/f/data-converters-forum/187089/ads1259-error-code-6004

You might also try deleting and reinstalling the GUI.

Thanks for the quick response.

Yes, I saw the solution including a change in the "EEPROMVerify" parameter in "adcpro_evm.ini" from TRUE to FALSE.However, I think my access to that file is read-only, because I get a warning stating I'm not allowed to change the file when I try to save the changes.

Is there a way to gain write-access through the installation of the software? As far as I know, it's not very easy to do it afterwards.

I'll try to reinstall the GUI first and see if that helps.
EDIT: I tried reinstalling the GUI and that did not fix the problem unfortunately.
EDIT2: I found a workaround to the read-only issue. Changing EEPROMVerify from TRUE to FALSE seemed to work once, but now I get another error when connecting the board (screenshot below).

Hey Rasmus,

I've not seen this occur before. Can you verify in your device manage whether the MMB0 is enumerating properly before and after selecting the ADS1278 GUI?

Hi Zak,

Before selecting the GUI, NI-VISA USB Devices > MMB0 (COM & LPT) is visible in the device manager as expected.

After selecting the GUI I briefly see libusb-win32 devices > USBStyx, but it disappears after 5-10 seconds, after which I get an error in the GUI if I try to change any controls/parameters.

Hi Rasmus,

Did you reinstall both ADCPro and the ADS1278 GUI? You may also try running the GUI as an administrator in case something is blocking the enumeration.
