ADS1278-EP: audio compression and decompression

Part Number: ADS1278-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1278, PCM4204

Hi I'm using ADS1278 for converting voice with 8k samples please give me suggestions for to compressing and decompression technique for the audio C code. i referred the example code but its not working.

thank you.

Regard,

Suguresh M

  • Hello Suguresh,

TI does not have any example code for the ADS1278, other than the source code included with the EVM software.  I believe the code you refer to is from a third party, and we are not able to support questions for these examples.

If you have problems communicating with the ADS1278, please include a picture of the waveforms, including SCLK, DRDY, DOUT, similar to Figure 1 in the datasheet, and a picture of the ADS1278 schematic showing the state of the IO pin configuration.

    Precision ADC Applications

  • Hi Suguresh,

To add to what Keith has said, if you are using this for an audio application you may actually prefer to use a part like the PCM4204 unless you really need the DC precision or higher channel count of the ADS1278. Our audio converters will also have I2S/TDM interface if that simplifies your design.

  • ok Zak thank you its helpful information for me.

  • hi keith i got it from TI only to how to compress and decompress audio from msp so i followed those steps and fro the zak point of view we selected wrong ADC for audio conversion.

  • Actually what we are doing is just taking the input from the mic converting to digital for that i used adc1278 Actually  its converting the data but its not giving proper output i think its because of noise and its just normal functioning adc so because of that i didnt got proper output.

    thank you,
