ADS1115EVM-PDK: PC(Windows10) doesn't recognize ADS1115EVM-PDK

Part Number: ADS1115EVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1115

Hi team,

My customer is trying to evaluate ADS1115EVM-PDK. But his PC(Windows10) doesn't recognize the EVM correctly. So he attempted to install PAMB USB driver in accordance with this instruction.

Then, below message popped up and he can't install the driver.

What he should do?

Best regards,

Shota Mago

  • Hi Shota,

I apologize for the trouble. It seems like Windows can't validate the signature of the driver.  We found that the driver signature is expired and are working to update it. After that, you should be good to go.

I can come back and let you know when the signed driver is available on the web. We appreciate the patience.

  • Hi Aaron,

Noted. I'm looking forward to hearing back form you soon.

  • Hi Shota,

The driver should now be signed and updated. If you are still experiencing issues with the driver or have any questions regarding GUI connectivity, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

  • Hi Aaron,

Thanks for your update. The customer installed the driver.

However, the driver can not be recognized on device manager and it doesn't work. The driver appears as "Tiva Device Firmware Update" and it's different name from "Unknown device" which is shown in FAQ.

Although he uninstalled the driver and installed it again, it didn't resolve this issue.

    How can we solve this?

    Best regards,

    Shota Mago

  • Hi Shota,

When the customer opens the GUI, the EVM will not be found, correct? Can you share an image of the message when trying to run the GUI? The next step would be to update the firmware using the GUI. Can the customer click on File --> Program device and then select the ADS1115?

  • Hi Shota,

I forgot to ask if the boot_usb.inf was loaded. It does not look like it since the device manager shows the Tivaware is missing a driver. If not, please load boot_usb.inf. Then, you should be able to program the firmware using the GUI as I mentioned above.

    Aaron Estrada

  • Hi Aaron,

The customer loaded boot_usb.inf in accordance with this instruction. However, below message still appears.

    What should he do?

  • Hi Aaron,

PAM board can be recognized but EVM still can NOT be recognized...

He clicked on File --> Program device and then selected the ADS1115. Then, when GUI is restarted, below message appears.

    What should he do?

While, he noticed that driver name has been changed to "Generic Bulk Device" and he updated the driver in accordance with FAQ instruction.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Shota,

It looks like the EEPROM on the EVM is not programmed. To help with programming the EEPROM, I have pasted a snippet from a similar E2E post below

To program the EEPROM, go to the Options menu to manually connect to the COM port that the EVM is set to use.

From the Options drop-down menu select Serial Port.  You should see an option box similar to what is shown.  Search for and select a COM port that displays the PAMB board in the “Ports” drop-down list and click OK.

You will be issued a warning that the connection is to an unknown device, but that is ok.

The EVM may appear to connect properly, but we still need to program the EEPROM so that the GUI will automatically connect when the GUI starts.  To fix this:

    • With the GUI open press CTRL+ ALT + D (this puts the GUI into developer mode)
    • Click Tools -> Write EEPROM

  • Hi Aaron,

Finally, the customer was able to operate EVM successfully!

Thank you so much for our support!

  • Hi Shota,

You are welcome and glad we can get this resolved. Sorry to see that the customer had trouble connecting to the GUI in the first place. I will now close this thread.
