DAC7573: Output Pin Connection

Part Number: DAC7573

Hi Team,

The customer have two questions about the output pin connection, could you please kindly help to advise on them? Thank you.

  1. MCU1 is  power up by 3.3V,  and they used 5V  output of DAC to another device input which is used to control brightness. Is this connection correct? Or is there any thing need to notice when design the next stage device?
  2. The customer have another MCU2 located in another board, they can OR the output of DAC7573 ?

Best regards,

Mike

  • Hi Mike,

    1. VREFH should not exceed VDD.  You can use the +5V supply for both VDD and VREF (assuming VREF has the required current drive capability).  If you require the output to operate at exactly 5V then you want VDD to be slight greater than VREF.  For example, IOVDD= 3.3V, VDD =5.5V, VREFH=5V.

    2. If you have two outputs shorted together will result in the two output amplifiers driving/sinking against each other and they will likely not be at the correct voltage.  If you power down one of the DACs such that it is high-impedance, they can then be shorted.  Only one output should be enabled at a time.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Get it, thanks for the support on this.
