Part Number: ADS1299EEGFE-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1299

Hi TI,

Recently I tried to use ADS1299EEGFE-PDK to develop and it works very well.

But i have been having some problems after i install the software of ADS4300EVM-PDK.

After install this software, my ADS1299EEGFE-PDK can't be detected.

The situation is very similar with the link below.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/data-converters-group/data-converters/f/data-converters-forum/672862/ads1298recgfe-pdk-firmware-not-found-retrying-dsp-not-ready

When I run the ADS1299EEGFE-PDK. I see the following messages -

Locating binary file.

Reading binary file.

USB Connection established

No firmware found...downloading

Download successful

DSP not ready ....retrying

I am using windows 10 64 bit system.

Already uninstall the software of ADS4300EVM-PDK and re-install the two driver(MMB0 & USBstyx) & GUI.

Thanks for any help.

  • Hi,

Yes, what you encounter is valid.

Both EVM cannot work on the same computer without uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and GUIs.

You cannot install both ADS1x9x device EVM's driver and AFE4xxx EVM's driver in the same computer.

You will either need to have two computers, each of which has the dedicated driver installed only for that particular EVM

    or

when you want to use the other one, you have to uninstall and reinstall the GUI and driver from device manager.

    Thanks

  • Hi ChienChun,

    Thanks for your reply.

I have few question right now.

I already uninstall the software of ADS4300EVM-PDK & it's driver. But my ADS1x9x device EVM's still can't work.

And after uninstall everything, I re-install the software & driver of ADS1x9x device. It still not working.

Before I open the GUI of ADS1x9x , I can see the MMB0 in my device Manager.

When I open the GUI, and GUI shows the information DSP not ready ....retrying.

I can't see the device anymore. Not even in the unknown device.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Hi,

Can you disconnect the board(s) from computer first?

    and then

see if you have this folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\ADS1299EEG-FE\mmb0" and  double click to install the mmb0 driver?

    Or,

Go to device manager and then Plug in the MMB0 to computer to see if any new device or COM port pop up and then right click to install/update the driver by selecting the driver in the folder listed above.

    -------------------------------------

You can also try installing the ADS1299EVM installer in a different computer by following the user guide section 3.2 Installing the Software and 3.3 Install the ADS1299 EVM Hardware Drivers

Let me know if you see the

    USBStyx Driver Preinstallation

Completion of the Initial USB Drive

    Install the USBStyx Driver

    Thanks.

  • Hi ChienChun,

I can see the MMB0 device in my Device Manager  now.

After i open the GUI of ADS1299 , the device will disappear like the picture. I checked whole Device Manager. It not turn it to anything else or unknown device.

I using the other computer that system is windows 7 to install the ADS1299EVM's software. I can see Install the USBStyx Driver.

But it still didn't work. It show the same error message like before. DSP not ready ....retrying.

And i can't see the device in Device Manager.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Hi,

Do you see and Can you expand the "Ports (COM & LPT)" after you connect the EVM to computer?

    THanks

  • Hi ChienChun,

I can't see the "Ports (COM & LPT)" after connect the EVM.

I only see the "NI-VISA USB Device" -> "MMB0 (NI-VISA)" like my previous post.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Do you connect the power to EVM? not only the USB.

Could you uninstall everything related to ADS1299? and reinstall again?  make sure to follow the user guide and Do not plug the EVM to computer until the software and GUI are fully installed.

    Thanks

  • Hi ChienChun

I do connect the power to EVM by the 6V adapter.

I already tried uninstall and reinstall everything like i said before.

When reinstall the GUI & Drivers, i didn't connect the EVM to computer.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

    Sorry about that.

By the way, please note page 7 of the user guide -

"Windows 7 are NOT supported at this time"

Customers have been installing and running successfully on Windows 10, so I may have to suggest you try on a different computer with Windows 10.

    Thanks

  • Hi ChienChun,

I tried three PC. There are two windows 10 and one windows 7.

All PC have the same problem.

If there is more information, please let me know.

    Thanks for help.
