DAC60096EVM: GUI is stuck at loading screen

Hi Marvin,

Please try referring to this thread (and the thread linked in that one) to see if any of those debug tests work for you. It seems like in the past this error has been related to some installation issue.

Good day. 

It seems that the troubleshooting tips in the thread you mentioned do not help. As per the customer, they have installed the AMC7863EVM and followed the thread but it still does not help. Is there anything else we could try?

By the way, the customer is running this GUI in win11 64bit (not win10). As per the User's guide, the GUI was tested on win7 and earlier. Does this also work with later versions such as win11?

Hi Marvin, 

During the install, did they select that the LabVIEW run time engine be installed as well? 

I just tried installing this GUI and I got an error and the runtime engine was not actually installed. I do have another version already installed on my computer and the GUI loads for me. Please check if they have any versions of the LabVIEW runtime engine installed. 

We have seen a few of our older GUIs, including this one, have issues with Win10, so I assume there will also be issues with win11. This GUI was developed on win7 in 2015 when the EVM was released which is why there are some compatibility issues. 

I am running on win10.

The customer have labview runtime installed but the problem still persist. Can we try this on win11 or Is there any other software that they can use other than the GUI?  Will CCS support this?

I don't have access to a windows 11 computer. 

Do they see the SDM-USB-DIG in the device manager? If not, please refer to this thread to install the drivers manually:

We don't have another software compatible with the SDM-USB-DIG, but the customer can use any controller that uses a SPI interface.

The SDM-USB-DIG itself has a microcontroller(MSP430F5528 uC). Can you please tell me how can I write on it with Matlab? 

Is there any way to automatically change the voltage values of the DAC by writing a code? consider the software work(which is not in my situation). For example, sweeping a voltage of one of DAC pins automatically.

There is not one code that will sweep a set of output voltages. New codes need to be written to change the output voltage. 

There is a toggle mode that lets the TRIGG pin toggle between two DAC codes:

Thank you very much Katlynne, after installing Net framework the software worked. I am wondering if it is possible to write a python code in a way that makes for example 9 channels of DAC to sweep at different voltage values. I do not know if it is even possible or not. I would appreciate it if you could help me find a way to make DAC channels work automatically with writing a code.

That is great to hear that the GUI is working. 

The GUI and SDM-USB-DIG itself can not be used in python and I cannot help with generating python drivers. The FTDI USB to SPI devices I mentioned before have SPI python driver examples that could be useful to you. Then you would be able to continuously write to the DAC output registers via SPI to sweep the output like you are suggesting.

Hi Atiyeh,

The python scripting tool in the GUI can be used to read and write from registers, but there is no ability to configure timings or loops. I don't think that would be useful to you. 

I have used the FT4222, and FT4232. They both have I2C functionality and evaluation modules available online. There may be other versions that could work for you as well if you want to research which ones have the most developed python examples from either FTDI or other sources online. Any SPI controller can be wired to the SPI pins on J4 of the DAC60096EVM.
