Part Number: TSW1400EVM
Hello,
One customer used TSW1400EVM to connect AFE5818M, it appears "The JTAG chain was broken while loading the firmware" when download the firmware. He checked the USB port and power which both work normally, could you please help to confirm?
Best regards

Hi Jim,
Thank you very much for your reply.
Dual power supply with parallel connection to provide 4.5A current. Please help to analyze.
Best regards
Kailyn
Kailyn,
The USB device on the TSW1400 (FT4232) is powered from the USB cable. Try using another USB port or PC.
On the PC, run it and scan/parse the USB port with the TSW1400 plugged in. It should come back with the TSW1400 USB info. Under one of the descriptor options that come back you will see an entry for 90mA current – bump this up to the max of 500mA to see if it helps. Our theory is that the 90mA in some cases may be maxed out causing the USB port to go into protect mode or the FTDI chip to drop out intermittently.
On the back side of the TSW1400, under the FPGA, make sure R55 is not installed. This has caused this issue in the past when installed.

Jim
Hi Jim,
Thank you very much for your reply.

I'd like to confirm how to do this step to scan or parse the USB port?
best regards

Hi Jim,
According to the customer's feedback, he referred to the attached FT_Prog userguide and improve the USB current to 500mA, and when downloaded the AFE5818 firmware, it also appears: The JTAG chain was broken while loading the firmware.
He bought the EVM board REV D, this revision has no R55 resistor.
Best regards
Kailyn
Kailyn,
Can they try to download firmware without the AFE5818EVM connected?
Jim
We have tried connecting only TSW1400EVM, but the same error occurred when downloading the firmware
Hongkun,
I would suggest you return this board. If you bought this from a distributor, you will have to work with them to get a replacement. If you bought it from the TI Store, the following link below has the details and a link to the form to start the return process. Once you are on the returns and refunds page of the TI Store look for the hyperlink which says: TI store customer support form.

Jim
