DAC3152: layout guide

Part Number: DAC3152
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DXP,

Hi team,

I have several questions here.

(1) I know the termination resistor of DP and DN is 100Ω,how about DACCLKP and DACCLKN? Customer wants to decide the routing impedance.

(2) Is there any limit about the length of DACCLKP, DACCLKN, DP and DN? Should we control DACCLKP and DACCLKN have the same length? And DP and DN the same length?

(3) How about the distance between DP and DN?

If you can share the detailed layout guide, it would be fine. Thanks!

Nison

  • Hi Nison, please see my answers below.

    1. The termination resistor for DACCLKP and DACCLKN should be 100 ohm.

    2. Ideally the clock input should be close to the device, however as long as the pair is matched this can be longer, just be sure to account for increased insertion loss. The DACCLKP and DACCLKN must be length matched. This is a differential input and must be matched or else performance will be degraded.

    3. DxP and DxN must be matched as this is a differential signal. If these are not matched then device will not work. Not only does each DxP need to match DxN, but ALL of these must match each other as well or else setup and hold timing may fail.

    Thanks
