ADC128S052-Q1: Current consumption

In the datasheet, current consumption is only given in sum (I(VA) + I(VD)). For my application, I need the maximum current consumption of the analog path at 4.1 V supply (VA, Pin 2). I am sourcing this voltage by a REF3440 that can deliver 10 mA maximum at 4.096 V output.

Assuming maximum 2.6 mA current consumption from the ADC128S052-Q1 (the only information in the datasheet), I would exceed this 10 mA rating by 1.4 mA because of external circuitry that is also supplied by this reference voltage. Reading from the datasheet that the maximum current is voltage dependent and the fact that the digital voltage is supplied separately, I have reason to think that I do not really have a problem. Can you give me a specification that helps me answering that question?

    Hi Martin,

    Thank you for your question! I was able to find this old thread which seems to answer your question. Note that the test conditions are VA = 5V, VD = 3V, and not VA = 4.1V like your application, but the split is about ID=40uA / IA=1.3mA.

    Hi Sharif,

    this means to me that the analogue part is consuming most of the current, so that I cannot assume less than 2.6 mA maximum on this path. Although this is not helpful to my problem, this information is of great value. I have to solve my problem by extending the current sourcing capability of the reference voltage, which is clearly possible according the related thread on the REF3440.

    I also know now that the digital part is not consuming much current, which is also a good information I did not have until now.

    Thank you for this information, although a specification based on VA = 4.1 V would also have been interesting.
