ADS117L11: power supply

Part Number: ADS117L11
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS7052

Used in single power supply, low-speed mode.
The specification sheet states AVDD1 to AVSS, low-speed mode 2.85 5.5V,
Is it possible to use AVDD1=AVDD2=IOVDD=+1.8V, AVSS=DGND=GND(0V)?

  • Hello Hiroyuki-san,

Unfortunately no;  AVDD1 requires a minimum voltage of 2.85V relative to AVSS.  With AVSS=DGND=0V, AVDD1 also requires a minimum voltage of 2.85V relative to DGND.

We do not have many precision ADC's that can operate with an analog supply voltage down to 1.8V.  However, the ADS7052 is a 14b, 1MSPS SAR ADC that can operate down to 1.65V supply voltage.  You could average several readings to improve the effective resolution of the ADC if needed.
