ADS131M08: Help connecting linear resistor to ADS

Part Number: ADS131M08

Hello, good afternoon. I'm trying to set up a circuit with the ADS to measure a linear resistance. I want to know if by connecting the linear resistor directly to the directional alignment pin + and the directional alignment pin -, or if I need to follow the circuit shown below by adding a voltage divider and connecting direction + and -. I'm attaching images.

My general idea is whether connecting it without the voltage divider would generate linear changes in the ADS, considering that the voltage wouldn't change for the point. Would it work the same? I believe it would work the same, showing me linear ADS value changes. I'm using the ADS131M08.

  • Hi ,

The input impedance of ADS131M08 is 330kohm for Gain=1/2/4 and higher for other Gain settings, this is a typical value, it may have a variation between different devices that will have an impact to your resistor divider, so a calibration is needed. Also, you may have to consider the impact from the input impedance drift. You can actually check it with an ADS131M08EVM.

    Best regards,

    Dale
