TSW14J58EVM: TSW12QJ1600EVM interfacing with TSW14J58EVM having a issue with Capturing the Data

Hello Madhu,

This issue is typically caused by the FPGA not receiving a valid clock frequency. Are you able to probe the ADC EVM and verify that the clock is correct?

We still cannot capture the data.  We are new to this ADC chip.

We tried looking at the clock on ADC EVM board (TSW12QJ1600EVM) .

FPGA_CORECLK_FMC_P/N

We see 50MHz clock on U1 (pin J7, K7) and U2 (pin J7, K7) and later on J1 (H4, H5)

FPGA_GBTCLKx_FMC_P/N

We DO NOT see anything on U1 (J9,K9) and U2 (J9,K9), and later on J1(B20, B21, D4, D5)

BTW, we noticed in the TSW14J58EVM schematics J3 FMC connector which interfaces and connects to the ADC EVM board 

FPGA_CORECLK_FMC_P/N which is coming from the ADC EVM board to TSW14J58EVM is not used in the FPGA EVM board. Why ?

Do we have to program TRIG_CTRLx register ?

We noticed in the ADC EVM GUI "Low Level" tab, if I tried to read all the registers it returns "FF" for all the registers.

We are following exactly what the user's guide suggest.  Purpose of this EVM boards is to help us configure, setup and understand easily but it is taking longer than expected. 

Is there a setup issue ? Is there a issue with the boards ? Is there a configuration issue? 

We really appreciate, if we could have a conference call and you help/guide us with the initial setup and debug.

Hi Eric,

We have TSW14J58EVM DC182_A10 version with S/N: 8362400014.

I was looking at the schematics from slwc119.zip (This is what I get when I look for the latest schematics for this board on the website and forum).

I was reading the users guide for this board and I see it mentioning about DS20 and in the SCH and ASY files I see them 

but, on the board I do not see that and I'll attach my board pics in my next message. 

I noticed that these SCH, and ASY files does not match with the board I have (especially the following section)

is the default programming of the ADCs thru the GUI on the board?

Is the problem in ADC12QJ1600R Reference Design GUI or HSDC Pro GUI ?

Hello Madhu,

It is a problem with the ADC GUI itself. For now please use these provided python files for configuring the ADC board. The programming of the TSW capture card is fine I think.

I do all the steps from 3.1 to 3.7, and then

After Step 3.8, I do the following 

Step 1.In the GUI Menu

2.  Select Script

3.Load Config Script

selected the file you sent and

I get the following error

Is this the right way of loading the python file you sent ?

Hello Madhu,

It is a Python file please run as you would any other Python file, you can use the command prompt or and IDE such as vs code. It is not built to run off the gui.

the correct procedure would be to program the adc first with the python file and then follow the user guide steps to setup the tsw capture card.

Again I followed the same process

Chapter 3

I do all the steps from 3.1 to 3.8, and then 

Step 3.9

Instead of opening the TSW12QJ1600EVM GUI, I programmed the using Windows Powershell updated the ADC board by running adc_main.py file.

I did not use or open TSW12QJ1600EVM GUI  at all. Skipped Step 3.10,

Continued with 3.11 and 3.12.

I still get the same error....

Are we doing anything wrong ?

Thank you for all your support, but our main purpose of buying and using these eval boards is the following features:

REDUCE our design time, but it is taking longer than expected.

We have a big list of things to do on this board once we start capturing the data.

we are not sure what all we are going encounter during those steps, so timely response and resolution is greatly appreciated.

Also, we are still surprised why do we need to load different configuration file on our board if these eval boards worked for other customers. Are you asking me to load these new configuration files to debug our board?

We thought these eval boards which are suppose to work right out of the box, then why our board is having these issues ? Is there a setup issue on our end? A simple phone support can resolve these kind of  issues.

We are running out of time. This is taking weeks to resolve, Why can't we get a phone support to resolve this issue?

Anyway, as I mentioned in our phone conversation and in my previous emails about TSW14J58 Board Revision is not same as the schematics I have. Can you please send the right version of the schematics and ASY file?

Do you want me to continue using 5.2 GUI or 6.0 Pro GUI ?

Do you want me to use command line or GUI version for ADC configuration ?
