Hi Expert,

We are currently experiencing a non-pass noise test (ESD, EFT) issue in our ADS114S08B development project

While the MCU and other surrounding areas are fine during noise testing, the ADS114S08B may reboot or respond to incorrect values

The circuit diagram is attached, the diagram below is an architectural diagram, so please help us troubleshoot the problem, thank you.

Hi Bo Xian Yeh,

Can you please provide a schematic for this board instead of a block diagram? We need to see what type of protection components are used between the ADC and the inputs

Can you also provide the details of the tests that are being applied? EFT and ESD tests are usually standardized by industry. Please also let us know where the fault voltages are being applied (I assume the input pins)

I can tell you that one of my colleagues has run EFT and ESD tests on the ADS124S08 (the 24-bit version of the device the customer is using) using both 2-layer and 4-layer PCBs, and the device passed easily. So it is definitely possible to pass these tests using the ADS1x4S08, but it depends on the test levels you are applying and the protection components being used

Hi Jimmy WANG,

The schematic you sent does not include any protection components e.g. TVS diodes, that would protect against transient voltages. So yes it makes sense that the board did not pass your tests

Consider using something like TVS3301, which is a 33V, bidirectional diode. There are also other options that have lower standoff voltages (down to 5V) and/or unidirectional
