AFE882H1EVM: EVM application usage

Part Number: AFE882H1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE881H1, AFE882H1, XTR305

Tool/software:

What are the field we need to enter to get DAC output voltage and HART output?

Do we need to write in register page or entering into attached page is ok?

EVM document is not clear about usage of Application,Can you provide more insights into it.

In the GUI, it looks like the EVM isn't yet connected, in the upper right side of the window, there is a check for "Demo Mode". Start by unchecking Demo Mode to make sure the EVM is connected. To enter in DAC output values, you just enter a value (in hex) for DAC Data. This can be done on the page you showed at the upper left side, just under the word "DAC". Once entered, this should update the value to the DAC output.

I would note that we just noticed a problem with drivers that needed to be installed for this EVM GUI (the AFE881H1 and AFE882H1). Go to this E2E post:

Hopefully this works for you. Let me know if you have problems.

This EVM combines the AFE882H1 and an XTR305 so that you can convert the AFE's 0-2.5V output to either a current or voltage output, depending on the XTR setting.

  • Hi Joseph ,

Just for reference i taken screenshot without connecting the EVM. That is the reason it is in demo mode.

I installed the drivers now  i am getting Vout(i.e 0-2.5V), but not getting XTR_Out(i.e Voltage out), HART Output even though i enable in application.(I set the jumper position to select the XTR_out from Applicaion).

    Best Regards

    Vamshi

  • Doudu,

Can you take a picture of the EVM to show the jumper connections? It may help me debug the output. Do you have the +15V and -15V supplies connected?

  • Doudu,

This is how I have the EVM set up:

I think the jumper settings are set to the default as described in the user guide. For the GUI, I didn't need to change very much either:

I enabled the XTR Output, and the default output mode is set to ±11V. I did check the output with settings for zero scale, mid-scale, and full scale.

    Zero 0x0000 -  AFE out: 0V, XTR out:-11.1V

    Mid 0x8000 -  AFE out: 1.25V, XTR out:-0.7mV

    Full 0xFFFF - AFE out 2.5V, XTR out: +11.1V
