ADC3583: TSW1418EVM + ADC3583 SLVDS Interface: Ripple Noise in High-Speed Data Converter Output

Part Number: ADC3583
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TSW1418EVM, ADC3683

Tool/software:

Hello TI Support Team,

I am currently using the TSW1418EVM to evaluate the ADC3583 with a 2-wire SLVDS interface. The setup is being tested using the High-Speed Data Converter Pro (HSDC Pro) software to visualize the output waveform.

However, I have observed what appears to be ripple noise or unintended fluctuations superimposed on the waveform in the output data. This noise makes it difficult to interpret the signal accurately.

I would greatly appreciate your advice on potential causes of this ripple and suggestions to mitigate or eliminate it. Could this be related to power integrity, signal integrity (e.g., SLVDS termination or routing), or some other configuration issue in HSDC Pro?

For your reference, I have attached the schematic, data capture setup, and configuration files related to the test.

Thank you for your support and guidance.

  • Hi Myoung,

Thank you for the detailed post. The ripple in your signal could indeed be cause by signal integrity, power integrity, or HSDC Pro. In order to pinpoint the cause of the issue, could you help me understand a bit more about your setup?

I assume since you have shared your schematic that you have built your own board with the ADC3583. Is this correct, or are you using an ADC3583EVM board?

Could you also share with us what you are using to generate the input signal to the ADC?

Another note, the TSW1418 was never officially used with the ADC3583. We have never tested the TSW1418 with this family of ADCs, so I am very surprised you are able to capture data at all. Additionally, we have obsoleted this board and no longer support it. Can you share with me where you got the information to use the TSW1418 with the ADC3583? I'd like to make sure our documentation is corrected. Please share the answers to these questions and we can explore how to proceed.

    Best,

    Luke Allen
